2024 One Health Day webinar series
Capitalising on One Health Day (3 November), the Quadripartite organisations are co-hosting a webinar on 6 November.
During this webinar, panelists will showcase how One Health governance has been applied in different contexts at regional, national and community level and identify opportunities for improvement, including infrastructure, multi-level regulations, leadership, multi-coordination mechanisms (MCMs), and financial and One Health-trained human resources, etc.
Context
The world faces unprecedented health challenges including emerging diseases, food insecurity, antimicrobial resistance, ecosystem degradation and climate change, largely fuelled by human activities that disrupt the delicate balance between people, animals and the environment. Large-scale deforestation, intensified agriculture, wildlife trade, and biodiversity loss represent a significant threat to public health, contributing to increased health risks at the human-animal-environment interface, disproportionately impacting the most vulnerable and marginalised communities.
Recognising the interlinkages and interdependence between the health of humans, domestic and wild animals, plants, and the wider environment (including ecosystems), the One Health approach has emerged as a viable solution to address these increasing complex global health threats.
