Simulation exercise: Bovine spongiform encephalopathy in Chile

Dr. Hernan Rojas Olavarría, Director, Department of Animal Protection, Department of Agriculture and Animal Production (SAG), Ministry of Agriculture, Chile, informed us that a simulation exercise on bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) has started on 28 October 2003 using two brain samples collected under the BSE surveillance programme from bovines slaughtered in two authorised abattoirs.
