Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Bolivia

Dr Javier Ernesto Suárez Hurtado, Delegate to WOAH and Executive Director General of the National Agricultural Health and Food Safety Service (SENASAG), informed WOAH that Bolivia will organise a field simulation exercise. The exercise, which will take place from 5 to 9 December 2022 in the municipality of Montero – Department of Santa Cruz, will test the National Animal Health Emergency System SINAEZ, applied to the occurrence of Foot and mouth disease in the country.
This exercise will include functional aspects of SINAEZ in its alert and emergency phases, applying an action plan for the Foot and mouth disease contingency. The event is preceded by training at the operational level and desk work at the medium coordination levels.
Specific objectives of the exercise include risk communication strategies, coordination and chain of command between the actors involved and the functionality of the biosecurity processes in each phase of the plan.
