Simulation exercise: Foot and mouth disease in Türkiye

Dr. Ahmet GÜMEN, Delegate to WOAH for Türkiye, is informing the WOAH that the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will organize a simulation exercise for foot and mouth disease between 4-8 September 2023 in the Anatolian part of Çanakkale (the city center remains in Anatolia) in order to update the information about the disease in Thrace which has the status of “free from FMD with vaccination”, and in the surrounding provinces.
The objectives of the simulation are to test the FMD Contingency Plan and to train staff on its implementation, to test operational response arrangements, to examine the liaison and interdependencies between the key operational partners, and to consider the economic impacts.
The simulation will include table-top and field exercises.
