An harmonized international system has been developed by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) together with the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) and the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) to facilitate the safe movement of competition horses and to provide for expansion of the sport horse industry while safeguarding the health status of the equine population in the receiving country, the country of usual residence, and the countries with layover points.
